Separately Managed Accounts
What is a separately managed account?
A separately managed account is a service where a portfolio of investments is managed for you by an investment manager utilising a model portfolio approach. You provide discretion to the investment manager to make day to day decisions about that portfolio on your behalf.SMAs are regulated as Managed Investment Schemes under the Corporations Act 2001. SMAs are operated by a Responsible Entity that must be a registered Australian public company and hold an Australian Financial Services License authorising the Responsible Entity to operate the scheme.
Why use a separately managed account?
The Multiport SMA Service provides investors with a portfolio of directly held investments managed by professional investment managers who use a model portfolio approach, implementing the same investment decisions across all investor accounts.
